Ernest Hemmingway said a writer  “should be direct and personal, his imagery rich and earthy, and his words simple and vigorous” and his simple yet effective style is certainly apparent in his many works of literature. It is certainly true for horror that sometimes less is more. Edgar Allen Poe, master writer of some of the most bone chilling, spine tingling stories we have, is an example of the terror you can convey in just a few sentences. Some students in the literary arts prime took this idea and met the challenge of conveying a truly terrifying scenario in only two sentences! Enjoy…if you dare!

 

A train howled in the distance. The man gulped, gazing at his foot stuck between the rails  -Cordelia
