A new star is on the rise. She is an actress and plays the famous role of Lara Jean in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series.  This actress is Lana Condor. Lana Condor is a 23 year old Asian-American actress who was born in Vietnam. She was adopted by her parents when she was a baby, and has lived in America ever since. Lana is also a singer as well, she has not put out any covers, but she has featured in many of her boyfriend’s, Anthony De La Torre’s, songs. They recently released a song together in February of 2021 called Anyone Else But You. 

Lana got her fame from the movie and book series To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, released on Netflix in 2018.  In the movie Lana plays the main character, Lara Jean, who is an asian american teenager. To All the Boys is a movie based on Lara Jean, who  writes love letters to all her extreme crushes, one day the letters get out and she ends up fake dating one of the recipients of the letters. 

 Lana isn’t just an amazing actress, she is also one of the first asian american actresses to play the lead of a teenage character in a young adult movie. A female lead in a teen romance movie is rarely anyone of diversity, so having an asian american play the main character in one of these teen romance movies is a great step in the right direction for making female leads in romance movies more diverse. And not only is Lana a great actor, but she is great for the character she played. This is a huge step in the industry, as now even more cultures and people are being represented in these movies, which would never have happened in the past. Plus if more people are being represented that means people will learn more about different cultures and people. 

Lana has also won and been nominated for some awards based on her amazing acting in the To All the Boys movies. She has been nominated for the Teen Choice Award in 2019. She won the MTV Movie + TV Award for the Best Kiss Shared on Screen in 2019, as well as the HCA Award for Next Generation of Hollywood.

Lana isn’t just an amazing actress, she is also one of the first asian american actresses to play the lead of a teenage character in a young adult movie.
